Have you ever downloaded a merged package for The Sims 3 and wished you could extract just one hair, outfit, accessory, slider or other piece of CC from it?
Well... that's exactly why I created this tool! lol
Veiga's S3CC Splitter was created to make it easier to inspect and split merged custom content files, allowing you to recover individual items without having to keep the entire merged package in your game.
It can read both .package and .dbc files, identify the supported custom content inside them and rebuild the selected items as separate, ready-to-use .package files.
So, yes — this can also be very useful if you have CC installed inside your DCCache and want to extract specific content from a .dbc file.
What does this tool do?
✔ Opens .package and .dbc files and scans the custom content stored inside them.
✔ Displays the individual items found inside a merged file instead of showing you a huge list of unrelated internal resources.
✔ Allows you to choose exactly which items you want to extract.
✔ Rebuilds each selected item as its own .package file.
✔ Automatically includes the related resources required by the selected CC, such as meshes, textures and other linked data when detected.
✔ Keeps the original .package or .dbc untouched — the tool creates new files in the destination folder you choose.
Features:
✔ Drag & Drop support: simply drag a .package or .dbc file into the tool or select it manually.
✔ CC preview: when a compatible thumbnail is available, you can preview the selected item directly inside the tool.
✔ Merged package splitting: extract individual CC from large merged packages without having to manually search through all their internal resources.
✔ DCCache .dbc support: useful for recovering individual custom content from merged DCCache files and converting the selected items into regular .package files.
✔ Automatic dependency detection: the Splitter follows related resources so the new package contains the components associated with the selected item instead of exporting only its main resource.
✔ CAS organization: extracted CAS content can be automatically organized into folders such as:
- Clothing
- Hair
- Body Hair
- Beard
- Eyebrows
- Makeup
- Accessories
and, when applicable, also by age and gender.
✔ Special handling for sliders: related FACE resources are grouped together and exported under a Sliders folder.
✔ Special handling for SkinTones: multiple resources belonging to the same skin tone are grouped together so they can be treated as a single item.
✔ Body Hair grouping: related body hair entries are grouped together instead of appearing as several separate pieces of CC.
✔ Also supports identifying other supported content such as patterns and objects.
✔ Recreated packages use DBPF compression to help keep their file size optimized.
✔ Quickly select all, none, or only the individual items you want before exporting.
✔ Compatible with three languages: Portuguese, English, and
Spanish.
(If your system language is not one of these, the tool will default to
English.)
P.s.: If you’d like your language included, just send me all the tool’s text already translated, and I’ll add it.
Why did I make this?
If you use a lot of CC, you probably already know how convenient merged packages can be.
The problem starts when you want to remove one single item from a merged package.
Finding the correct resources manually can be confusing, and keeping an entire merged file just because you still want one or two pieces of CC isn't exactly ideal.
The S3CC Splitter is my attempt to make that process much simpler:
open the merged file → find the CC → select what you want → export it as a separate package.
No manual resource hunting required.
It can also be useful for reorganizing an old CC collection, recovering content from .dbc files, or simply finding out what's actually hiding inside one of those giant merged packages you've had in your Mods folder for years. lol
Credits and Thanks
I’d like to thank Cowplant Cartel and Hemera Sims for helping me test this tool. ♥
Available builds:
- Windows
- Linux
- macOS - Intel
- macOS - Apple Silicon
IMPORTANT: I always recommend keeping a backup of your original merged .package or .dbc files. The Splitter does not modify the source file, but backups are always a good idea when reorganizing a large CC collection.
